Scrappy Stars
From Fons and Porter's Fat Quarter Friendly Book. I used a very mellow palette of greens, blues, golds, purple and pink. It took about 6 months to complete from start to finish.

The handquilting was done in brown thread, in a diagnol grid pattern. This was my first large scale attempt at hand-quilting, and will probably be my last until I get a decent stand to work on.
Dresden Plate Quilt
Here's a full shot. This quilt took me just over 2 years from start to finish, and is my first attempt at applique. It took so long to complete because I put it aside for just over a year. I had hand-quilted about half of it before I got really bored. I ended up finishing up the rest of the blocks and border by machine quilting, although I didn't do a very neat job. It was good to practice on though, and you can tell when I ended because the quilting is so much better
Sunshine and Shadow
Made for the second son of a family friend. The colorful pieces were strip pieced, and then a template was used to cut out triangles. Plain black cotton was used for the border and backing. Completed July 2004.
Diamonds in the Rough - closeup
Close up - the fabrics are really busy! I had fun collecting.
Diamonds in the Rough
Made for my cousin Kristie's baby boy, expected Sept. 2004. I pieced the top using Thangles, and my mom machine quilted the quilt. It came out rather striking, and I've got enough fabric to make at least one more.
Birthday Cake Quilt
This was made for Convention Alley - it will be used to decorate for the birthday feast, and will be auctioned off at the end of the event. I'm curious to see who ends up with it. I used some fusible printer fabric to fuse a label on the back, using the CA logo and my user name. It was the first time I used that material. The pattern comes from Quiltmaker with some modifications. I used some cookie cutters to make the pattern for the applique pieces in the border, and I cut down the number of "presents" in the quilt.

Tshirt Quilt - Bekki
Lower half of tshirt quilt. The quilt was tied with embroidery floss, and only took about a week to make the entire thing.
Tshirt Quilt - Bekki
Tshirts are mine saved since high school. I chose the most obnoixous fabric that I could find to tie all the different colors of tshirts together.
