I took the pic of the 3 girls and did Select All - Edit->copy. Then I went to the John pic and pasted it. And basically you just make sure that on you Layer Window you are on the girls and not John and then just click away. Up at the top you have the first eraser that allows you to select your brush and change the opacity of the eraser. This is the one I usually use. 100% means erase all. 75% erases most of the image with a slight ghost left. 50% takes it down to half, etc. The eraser with the scissors is 100% only. The one with the asterik is the "Magic" eraser which tries to be smart and erase the background, but you'll find after a couple of clicks it starts on their hair. Back to the first eraser. It becomes very apparent when you start adding colors on top.
