dresser in toto
this is a dresser i've had since i was 1. my mom painted it white and decoupaged it with precious moments illustrations. then i stripped it in high school and painted it crazy colors, then an homage to t.s. eliot, and finally just purple. it hadn't been redesigned since right after college. was about time.
middle drawer collage
the photo of the sitting woman - she's laughing with her head thrown back. that next to the umbrella girl was exactly how i felt at the moment.
top drawer collage
another drawer on another day - all the images feel content, contained, something like that - aspirational for me
bottom drawer collage
one of these is from the f.a.t.a.s.s. radical cheer calendar from 2004. this is the in-your-face whimsy drawer.
top
half of the top, actually. it's just the red paint & paper combination - the rest is the purple you can see alternating with the red in the drawers.
blue canvas, part 1
this canvas has been painted 5 times since the end of july. i was starting to think that, if i didn't finish the painting in 1 night, it was just hopeless.
so i painted it a blue that reminds me of magritte, and this hotel off 14th street in DC.
sketch, part 1
but then i had an idea for a painting that would still mean something in a month, at least. here's a sketch.
bonus, kitten photo!
sketch, part 2
this was the second sketch, which was of course promptly sponged off & ignored when i started painting the next week.
bonus! kitten & wet, naked-looking girl (i'm wearing pjs, i just *look* naked).
painting, part 1
still wet, the foreground. there's a bunch that will get filled in around this.
waiting for paint to dry is not entertaining.
painting, part 2
without the flash, my camera picks up the depth of color less, but the variety of color more.
odd, isn't that?
still waiting for paint to dry.
