size: 840x1340, 230k

Here's where I depict Power Girl inspired by Amanda Conner and Phil Jimenez.

Manhunter - Kate Spencer by Kevenn T. Smith

size: 990x1171, 176k

Kate Spencer, lawyer by day, kick ass vigilante, Manhunter, by night and single mom and chain smoker. A GREAT title by DC, that sadly, not enough people read.

Mary Marvel

size: 708x1110, 84k

A picture of Mary Marvel I did for a co-worker.

Kevenn's Zatanna Mix

size: 874x1275, 780k

My interpretation of Zatanna combining her Perez Sorceress/Superhero costume and her Stage Magician Tuxedo costume - without that damn hat.

Aquaman

size: 589x1092, 161k

Aquaman in his mystic water-hand incarnation.

Hawkwoman by Kevenn

size: 870x1142, 122k

The Silver Age/Bronze Age Hawkwoman, Shayera Hol.

Dr. Light II

size: 900x1012, 110k

Here is my picture of the second Dr. Light, Kimiyo Hoshi. As opposed to the sodomizing evil male Dr. Light(the first one), this Dr. Light is good, and is a Justice League member. This is my combination of her two looks - a black and white look(her original look, and the look she is depicted having on Justice League Unlimited) and her yellow and white look that she had in her Justice League International days.

Vixen Mix

size: 360x981, 55k

"Wonderful Gathering of Stars"

These next two pictures are two parts of one big picture that I spent several months doing for a friend. The top half of the picture (first) depicts Nu'Bia, Donna Troy in her Perez Wonder Girl costume, Diana during the time time that Artemis was Wonder Woman, Artemis as Wonder Woman, and Amazon Captain of the Guard Phillipus. The bottom half of the picture (second), depicts platinum haired Amazon, Pythia, Sister to Hippolyta - Antiope, Hippolyta as Wonder Woman, the first Themiscyran oracle Mennalippe and her lover Penelope, and another Amazon, Euboea.

"Wonder Woman 288-290"

This picture depicts the Bronze Age Era Wonder Woman before the Crisis, specifically, characters from Wonder Woman issues 288 through 290. Wonder Woman, the Bronze Age Silver Swan, Dr. Psycho, and Captain Wonder, who was an alter ego of Dr. Psycho, a projection of a combination of Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman. This picture is the first piece where I made a break through in my coloring, where I finally got the comic book coloring with blue highlighting for black hair, and how to make it work with my artwork, and not make it look funny.
"Pre-Crisis Wonder Woman Through The Years"

This picture was penciled by Ray Caspio, but I inked it and colored it. It was the first picture of his that I inked and colored. I did it while I was visiting Ray over New Year's for 2001. It depicts different versions of Wonder Woman through the years, Pre-Crisis. From left to right is Diana Prince of the late 60's, early 70's where she lost her powers and was a karate chopping fashion diva. She traveled with her mentor, a blind Chinese martial artist named I-Ching. This was a very contraversial era. Some people loved it, others hated it. I, personally, loved it, and Diana was drawn excellently. Next, is the Golden Age Wonder Woman of the 40's. Then is 1970's comic book Wonder Woman with Jaclyn Smith looking hair. Lastly, is CBS Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, which was Ray's favorite period of the Wonder Woman TV show.

"Lynda Carter CBS Wonder Woman"

These two pictures depict Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman in the CBS costume. I did the first pencil drawing, and afterward, I wanted to see what it would look like in color, but I didn't want to ink over the pencils and erase them, because I liked them so much, so I inked it on tracing paper over it, and then colored. That's why there are weird "waves" on her legs - the tracing paper got a little warped. Sorry.

"Wonder Family Pose"

This started out as a tribute to the slain Queen Hippolyta and grew from there. From Left to right: Artemis, Wonder Girl, Troia, Hippolyta, Fury, and Wonder Woman. Both Hippolyta's and Diana's capes have extra stars on them that I added to the original designs. I couldn't fit all of the original scan onto the scanner, so that's why the first picture of the original is cut off on the bottom. And second, a complete shot of one of a number of prints that I had made of it.

"The Golden Age and the Bronze Age - Cheetah and Dr. Psycho"

I needed to do a practice exercize at drawing the Pre-Crisis Cheetah's and a Golden Age Dr. Psycho for another picture I was doing. I really liked this one a lot and found that I enjoyed drawing the Bronze Age Debbie Domaine Cheetah. I really like the way my Golden Age Wonder Woman came out as well.

____________________________________________________________
This is the current version of Catwoman. The first pic is the finished piece, and the second one is the inked version.

Another DC Heroines picture that I did. From the Top Left, Power Girl, Hawk Girl(Kendra Saunders), Batgirl(Barbara Gordon), Wonder Woman, Supergirl(Post-Crisis Kara Zor-El), Catwoman, Huntress, and Black Canary. I was never really happy with the way Wonder Woman turned out in this picture. Except for her hair. . .

On the left, the early Gail Simone Era Birds of Prey, and on the right, a pic of Black Canary I and Black Canary II, mother and daughter.

History of Batgirl
From left, a picture depicting Betty Kane, the original Bat-Girl, and her Post-Crisis incarnation, Bette Kane, as Flamebird(both the reclingin costume, and her current darker Flamebird costume - which has boots that have the same cut as Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl costume's boots), and up top, Batwoman from the Titans Tomorrow storyline. Moving a long is Barabara Gordon as Batgirl, including Yvonne Craig's Batgirl from the Adam West Batman TV Show. Also shown is Barbara Gordon as Oracle, and various other Batgirls, such as Alicia Silverstone's, Barbara Wilson from Batman & Robin(whom I felt was actually more of an homage to Bette Kane), Dina Meyer's Batgirl form the TV Show Birds of Prey, Cassandra Caine's Batgirl, and the various animated incarnations of Batgirl and Barbara Gordon: Filmation, Batman the Animated Series, Gotham Knights, Batman Beyond, and The Batman.

Another favorite of mine is DC Comics' most proliferate black superheroine, a former Justice League member, Vixen.

A Visual Costume History of Vixen using actress Gina Torres as a facial model. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger view.

From left to right, at the bottom, is a picture of Mari McCabe, Vixen's actual name. The yellow-gold and light blue costume is Vixen's original costume. The costume next to that (with the Diana Ross hair) is a design for Vixen that Bruce Timm came up with for a Justice League cartoon. They ended up doing Superman: The Animated Series instead. Next, is Vixen's JLA Detroit costume. In purple, is Vixen's latest look seen in Birds of Prey, my favorite, that you can actually believe this woman is also a model. Underneath, is Vixen's costume from the Ultra Marines. Following that is the Vixen costume seen in JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice. Then there is Vixen from Justice League Unlimited, who is voiced by Gina Torres. In purple, in Vixen's costume from the Suicide Squad and later Justice League comics. And finally, in the bottom right corner, is Vixen's look from Greg Land's Birds of Prey cover - a copper version of the purple cotume in the middle.

Here are some preliminary sketches that I did for the Vixen Costume History, using Gina Torres as a facial model.

Another picture of Vixen that I did combining the hairstyle from her appearance in Birds of Prey with her costume from Justice League Unlimited, again using Gina Torres as a facial model. I thought it would be a very good and wise idea if DC Comics went with this look for the character, because most comic fans associate an orange costume with Vixen, and the long braids give her credence to being a model, that she has long beautiful hair - instead of a "timberwolf" haircut.
