Like the two roma plants I planted intentionally, this "Better Bush" tomato plant came from the garden center of the Siloam Springs Wal*Mart. I purchased green tomatoes at the farmers market yesterday. Little did I realize that I had some on the vine in my own garden.

hiding the hole in the lavender plant

The lavender plant has a big dead spot in it. Everything growind at that end of the planter bed other than the merigolds grew spontaneously out of a load of half-compested matter from the compost tumbler. Several cucumber plants volunteered, but I cut their numbers in favor of the volunteer tomato plants that sprung up out of the kitchen-fed compost. I transplanted five of the volunteer tomatoes to pots or to other parts of the garden. We'll see if they survive the move. They all looked pretty rugged when last I saw them. I left the biggest of the volunteer tomatoes in place.
