derailing the tracks

We thought those aluminum tracks might be a problem when doing demolition, but they turned out easier to cope with than the traditional sash pocket and weight set-up would have been.

The trick was not dropping the windows as they were pulled out because the tracks would fall out leaving the guys holding the two sashes with no real support.
