This is a market in Tlaquepaque, the town whose name rhymes! We did a lot of shopping here. The funny thing was that almost every piece of furniture, pottery, or wall decoration I saw was something that furnished my childhood home. My parents, I found out later, pretty much furnished our entire house when they were living in Mexico. Now they're into expensive Italian and Scandinavian furniture, so all that stuff is gone. Oh well.

On our last night in Mexico, he took me and Clare out for a nice dinner. You are looking at a tortilla made of jicama there, stuffed with guacamole and roasted red chiles. And, totally vegan. Rock.

I cannot tell you how many people told me I was going to die on this trip. One reason is because if you get in these cabs, you apparently are in danger of being assaulted or kidnapped. However, I largely felt perfectly safe -- just with the usual travelling and big city precautions. Did we have any problems with safety? No. Did we have some hairy moments? Yes. Was one of them in one of these cabs? I'm not saying.
