In 10th grade, I tried the wild new experiment of closing my mouth and wearing a different outfit in my self-portrait. That shirt had originally been white, but I hadn't much liked it white, so my mother decided to dye it pink and sew purple ribbons on it, after which I wore it all the time. I think I had a retainer at this point, but you can't see it since I closed my mouth. My hair had finished becoming as curly as it is now, and for the picture, I had put it in a banana clip - probably purely for the sake of getting to draw a hairstyle I hadn't drawn before, since I never really wore banana clips very often because I couldn't get them to stay in the same position for an entire day. My tendency to overdraw my eyelashes to the point that I looked like I was wearing mascara was getting worse, and would continue to get even more worse before it got any better. |
