The Ice Rink at Kew Gardens

Christmas at Kew and the ice rink was in front of the Temperate House. It was proclaimed to be the biggest of all the London temporary artificial ice rinks of Christmas 2005 and was sponsored by British Airways. There was no cute 'marshals' like Somerset House though. The photo was taken from the top gallery inside the Temperate House.

'Macchia' flowers at Kew

'The Sun' at Kew

Another part of the Chihuly glass festival at Kew Gardens. 'The Sun' was the first installation revealed to the public and lived inside the Princess of Wales Conservatory. It was also one of the biggest of all the glass creations!

'Red and Neodymium Reeds' at Kew

Kew Gardens had a glass exhibition which lasted the whole of 2005 from the US artist Dale Chihuly. His wonderful creations were mixed with the normal plants inside and outside the glass houses and other gardens at Kew. It was controversial but apparently very successful. This was Red and Neodymium Reeds and was inside in the Princess of Wales Conservatory.

'Green Grass' at Kew

'Walla Wallas' at Kew

Another part of the Chihuly glass festival at Kew Gardens. 'Walla Wallas' floated on the lake in front of the Palm House and there was hundreds of them. These were the ones by the fountain.

'Thames Skiff' at Kew

Another part of the Chihuly glass festival at Kew Gardens. This was the 'Thames Skiff' a boat in the lake in front of the Palm House. It was starting to get dark and the picture didn't come out as good as I wanted but you still see reflections! In the posters publicising the exhibition at Kew they had a special photo take night with it all lit on the water! However it was not one of the installations that lit up at night normally :(
